BCT Score and certificate

1. How many levels are there in BCT?

BCT has a total of five levels to describe the business Chinese proficiency of the examinees, namely:

 
Levels Capability description
Level 1 Incapable of communication in Chinese in business environments.
Level 2 Capable of basic communication in Chinese in business environments.
Level 3 Capable of fairly effective communication in Chinese in business environments.
Level 4 Capable of fairly skillful communication in Chinese in business environments.
Level 5 Capable of appropriate communication in Chinese in business environments.

2. Relations between score and levels

The score for each specific skill (listening or reading or speaking or writing) is 0-500 points; Each level consists of 100 points.The total score for listening and reading constitutes the overall score of BCT(listening • reading)ranging from 0 to 1000 points. So do the overall score of BCT(speaking • writing).

3. Test report and certificate

All examinees can receive a test report even if they only attend listening and reading test in line with requirements. If the total score for listening and reading comes to 201-400 points, Level 2 “Business Chinese Test Certificate (listening•reading) will be awarded;.. If the total score for speaking and writing comes to 201-400 points, Level 2 “Business Chinese Test Certificate (speaking•writing) will be awarded.

There is no level 1 certificate.

4. How are examinees informed of their scores?

“Business Chinese Test Report” and “BCT Certificates” will be mailed to the test centers within one month after the test. The examinees can get their reports and certificates at the test centers or apply to have the centers mail the reports and certificates to them directly.

The test organizer will retain the certificate and test reports for two years.

5. How long are BCT scores valid?

The test report is valid for a two-year period starting from the test date. However, since the language level of non-native speakers will improve or decline as time passes by, generally speaking, a more recent score better reflects the present realistic language level of the examinees.

7. What to do if the test report and the certificate are lost?

If the test report is lost, the issuing organization can reissue a report if the score is still within the valid period; if the certificate is lost, no re-issue will be made. However, the issuing organization can provide relevant certificates. A certain administrative fee will be charged for relevant formalities.
