2009 YCT Exam Schedule

YCT Exams in 2009
6 examinations in both China and abroad:
Feb 28 (Saturday), May 23 (Saturday), Jun 27 (Saturday), Aug 22 (Saturday), Oct 24 (Saturday), Nov 21 (Saturday).
Candidates for each examination should apply at test sites in their respective countries one month ahead of schedule. Individual test sites should submit application results to the Chinese Exam International Test Centre (Hankao Guoji) two weeks before the exam. Pay attention to information issued on the Hanban website for more information.
Individual test sites should choose test times best suited to local needs, and submit the chosen test time to the Confucius Institute Headquarters/Hanban before Dec 20, 2008.

Youth Chinese Test (YCT)

The Youth Chinese Test (YCT) is an international standardized test that targets non-Chinese native speakers in primary and secondary schools. There are 3 levels in the YCT, Level 3 being the most difficult.

80 500 Ability to understand (listening) basic sentences for daily usage. Can read most common and short sentences.

150 1100 Can understand (listening) simple sentences for daily usage. Can read and understand common phrases, sentences and paragraphs. Can write basic essays about living and learning at school.
YCT
Level 3
250 1700 Can understand (listening) conversations related to class work and everyday life. Can read and understand key phrases, and simple essays.  Able to write and express more advanced ideas.

The objectives of YCT:

  • Brings more excitement to Chinese-learning
  • Improves Chinese communication 
  • Develops emotional and mental connections with Chinese language
  • Builds confidence in learning Chinese
  • Examination candidates with high scores may be awarded with Chinese test

   scholarships

  • All examination candidates are eligible to apply and take part in Chinese Test

Summer/ Winter Camps

All examination candidates will receive their scores, which includes the total as well as sectional scores. Certification is granted with a passing score. Certification can be used for school application, transfer, and used to measure of the effectiveness of a training program.
